Because of my awesome readers, HOPELESS made #1 Best Seller on Amazon!
I cannot even begin to say what this means to me, so I won’t even try. I’ll quote Holder and say this. “You don’t need words, you need actions.”
Which brings me to the meat of my very last blog post of 2012. I have SO many people I wish I could thank individually. But there are three groups of people that I feel had a huge hand in the way my year has turned out and I want to personally thank them by donating 100% of the income from HOPELESS from now until the last minute of 2012 to them. About the next 30 hours to be exact.
The first group I want to thank is the Main Street Theater in Sulphur Springs, Tx. It was last year in November of 2011 that my son decided to audition for a part in the play CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. He got the part and it was there, sitting at his rehearsals, that I got the idea to write my first book. I honestly believe that without seeing the passion these people had for their creativity, I don’t think I would have developed the craving to fuel my own passion. And sadly, the director and a huge supporting member of the Community Players passed away this week. In honor of her passion and as a thank you to the Theater, I am donating 1/3 of my sales from here to the last minute of 2012 to the Theater.
The second group that deserves a huge thank you are The Avett Brothers. Without their music and incredible lyrics to inspire me to “go be it,” I would have never followed after that dream. So to show my thank you to the passion they pour into their own creativity, I’m donating 1/3 of my sales from here to the last minute of 2012 to a charity that is close to their hearts, the Vickie S. Honeycutt foundation.
And for my town. I grew up in a very small town and still live here. I love it here. I love the people, I love the school, I love the teachers. I went to Saltillo High School from Kindergarten through 12th grade and loved every single year of it. 1/3 of the proceeds will go to Saltillo ISD.
Regardless of my ranking, how many books I sell, how many people read them…I just need to close out this year by saying thank you to every single person reading this, because you somehow had a hand in this epic year. And I hate the word epic, but there isn’t a substitute for it that would be good enough.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for 2012. The most EPIC year of my life.
Update–A huge thanks to everyone for making the last day of 2012 the best ever. $30,000 total is now being donated to the three groups above. Thank you everyone for your support this year!!!
