November Sweets

When I saw someone tag me in a post about the Goodreads awards the other day, I (for those of you who are familiar with Goodreads) thought it was just another one of the “lists” things.  Then, scrolling through my emails, I found an email I received last week and never opened.  It was from Goodreads, telling me I was nominated in two categories.  Best Young Adult Fiction and Choice Author.

I clicked on the link, and about fell out of my chair when I realized it was for the freaking GOODREADS CHOICE AWARDS for 2012.  I kept reading it and reading it to make sure what they were saying was right.  Out of ALL book published this year, mine was one of only 16 chosen!  And out of all the authors publishing those books, I’m one of only 16 authors chosen (along with the fabulous Tammara Webber.)  How did this happen?  A year ago today, I didn’t even have the idea for a book in my head.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times more: THANK YOU!

And the best part is, I’m in the same category as some of my faves.  Tammara Webber, Nichole Chase, John Green, Rebecca Donovan, Abbi Glines.  There are tons of great books to vote for, so go HERE and vote for your favorites of 2012.  First round voting ends November 10th.

  1. Well deserved! Its been a long time since a book has touched me as much as Slammed and Point Of Retreat have, they are butterflying brilliant! (and don’t forget you have forever coined a catch phrase too hehe)

  2. CONGRATS COLLEEN. You and the Slammed Series absolutely deserve to be a part of Goodreads 2012. I know I voted for Slammed. And most importantly Congrats on seeing you’re dreams come true and thank you for sharing Will and Lake with us!

  3. Already voted for the greatness that is your books! You deserve to be in the same categories as some of your favorites cause you are that good!

  4. You absolutely deserve to be there!! :) It’s the only reason I went to Goodreads that day too! I am betting that you win!
Keep writing girl…can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!

  5. I liked Easy … A LOT! But LOVE Slammed and Point of Retreat! You have my vote!

To celebrate your win, I think you should pay homage to Will and Lake’s stomping grounds and plan a trip to Ypsilanti. Your Michigan fans would LOVE the opportunity to meet you and share in the celebration!

  6. I voted for you and you deserve to win, not only because your book is so good but because you are so genuine and honest with your fans. Good luck!

  7. Ah, I’m glad you went back and checked your email! Imagine your surprise if you made it to round two and didn’t know still!?!? Voted for you earlier this week! Good luck! So many great authors this year, hard to choose between them all.

  8. already voted for you and if i could i would do multiple times before goodreads locked me out of voting. now, a little less bloggy and a little more writey. i can’t wait to read something from you. i miss your authorial voice. i just pulled that word out of my ass.

  10. YAY, Congratulations! There is NO way you won’t win. Your books in the Young Adult Category are definitely the best. The nominations are well deserved! **You voted for Slammed**

  11. Yay!!

Congrats Colleen – I’m so happy for you! I have never read a book that touched me as much as the Slammed Series. I love Will and Lake. Thank you for sharing their beautiful story with us.

  12. Already voted for you in BOTH categories!!! Congratulations to you! I hope you get to name this your all-time SWEET for 2012. You deserve it!!! <3

  13. Just voted for you in BOTH categories!!!! You are an amazing writer and a great Slam Poet!!! Am still googling this phrase ‘Books like Slammed’ for my next read.. Pls write more! You are one of my fav writers! ROCK ON!!

  14. Voting for Slammed was the easiest choice I’ve had to make all year. It was a given. I also read The Sea of Tranquility, and I loved it. While I wait (impatiently) for your next book, I’m reading your recommendations. You’re my new go-to person. Though I can’t claim to relate to the characters in any of the other books I’ve read as deeply as I did Will and Lake, through you, I’ve found new books and new authors almost as good. You, Colleen, are an absolutely amazing and inspiring woman!

  15. Colleen Hoover is not only a talented author, but she is an amazing, selfless, generous person! It is so wonderful to admire someone’s work, just to find out what an awesome person they are as well! I am honored to call Colleen my friend! Much love!

  16. You are such an inspiration, after meeting you its given me a desire to pursue my goals, with no regrets. I think your very deserving of this award. You have great novels that not only entertain but educate, young readers. One can hope that these novels can inspire girls to abstain and have a higher self worth. Two Thumbs Up and a Round of Applause. I look forward to the many novels you will share with us in your career.
